As a teacher myself, I can be very very positive about this: whenever you have difficulties with a course like math, or when there are things you really don’t understand, don’t hesitate! Look for some additional help before it’s to late: fellow students, tutoring by teachers or qualifying experts or whatever. Just don’t lay back and be depressed about it…  I’ve never been good with numbers, so when I went off to college I deliberately chose a major that wouldn’t require a lot of intensive mathematics courses. However, I soon discovered that even as an English major, I couldn’t avoid math homework altogether. I tried to ease my burden a bit by taking the most basic classes I could get away with, but found that I still didn’t quite understand everything. It was clear that I would need help with my math homework in order to get a passing grade.

I talked to my academic advisor about the difficulties I was having with my math homework. He recommended that I try the school’s tutoring center first. It was free and was staffed by fellow students, which sounded pretty good. I went over there one day after class to see what kind of help I could get. Unfortunately, I wasn’t alone. There were so many other students waiting for math homework assistance that it would have been at least an hour before my turn came up. I didn’t want to sit there for that long, so I just went back to my dorm room.

I tried doing my math homework on my own, but I was completely lost. Since it was only the second week of school, this didn’t bode well for the rest of the semester when the topics would just get harder. That night, as I was surfing the Internet, I decided to see what kind of online math homework tips were available. I discovered that there were a lot of free forums where I could post a specific problem and get step-by-step explanations from other forum members. This was a decent start, but there were times when no one responded to my posts. Since I always had a deadline for my math homework, using free forums wasn’t going to be the long-term solution I needed to get me through the school year.

Then I found out that I could get online tutoring from qualified experts. All I had to do was register with the tutoring site, schedule a session with a tutor, and then log on at the appointed time. I would then gain access to a private chat room where I could easily type in my math homework problems and read the explanation given by the tutor. This kind of personalized instruction was exactly what I was looking for. Yes, I would have to pay for each session, but at least I could understand my math homework, do well on exams, and, hopefully, pass the class.

I have to say that this online tutoring has really taken the anxiety out of doing my math homework. I actually look forward to my tutoring sessions and I now approach my tests with confidence. It’s great knowing that anytime I have trouble with my math homework, I can get personalized, confidential help right without having to leave my dorm.
